      First Savers Group

      What is First Savers?

First Savers is a savings club for children and young people up to 16 years of age. By saving regularly via a collection point in the school which is run in partnership between the school, the young people and the credit union; students are able to experience managing their own finance and developing their knowledge and skills in financial capability and teamwork.

Every member of the First Savers Group will have their own savings card which will have their own personal membership number on it.

      How it works

The savings club is designed to be as simple as possible. Arthur Hughes, a volunteer from the All Flintshire Credit Union, comes to Bryn Gwalia every Monday lunchtime to take savings from pupils and to fill in all of the required paperwork.

The deposits are entered on a collection sheet, which is totalled up at the end of the session. Each member's savings are entered on a payment slip and these are then taken to the credit union office along with the money collected.

If a child wants to withdraw any money at any time, they must request a form from Arthur. This form must be filled in with the amount they would like to withdraw and must be taken home to be signed by a parent or guardian. The money will then be available the following week.

During the school holidays, or after pupils have left Bryn Gwalia, they can still continue to save with First Savers at County Hall on Earl Road in Mold, which is open every Wednesday and Saturday between 10:00am and 12:00noon every week.

The First Savers Group is run in partnership with the All Flintshre Credit Union. Membership is free and there is no minimum deposit.

If you would like your child to join the Savings Group, please ask your child to request an application form from Arthur when he is in school during Monday lunchtimes.
