Welcome to Year 3
Our aim in Year 3 is to fully utilise the skills that the children have developed within the Foundation Phase, in order to establish independent learners who are able to take responsibility for and have a passion for, enhancing their own learning.
- Mrs J. Griffiths.
Year 3 have made a great start to the new term. Our topic - Amazing Anatomy, has prompted some fantastic questions and we have already begun to work alongside Year 4 to find answers. If you have any items at home that we could copy or borrow like hospital wrist bands, X-rays, removed plaster casts or stitches, photographs of time spent in hospital etc. please send them in.
Our PE days remain as Monday and Wednesday although kit needs to be in school every day in case of a timetable swap. As with all clothing, please check that items are named. We already have a considerable amount of lost property which was once named but the names have washed out since September.
Water bottles are still required even though it's winter. A well hydrated brain works the best - perhaps we could investigate that as part of our new topic!
Please ensure your child has a school bag to keep reading books, learning logs and letters dry on the journey to and from school. Even if the bag comes into school empty there may be something to take home in the afternoon. Learning logs are shared each Monday and reading books changed as often as required. Some children are reading frequently at home and changing their books regularly - please help your child to be one of them.
As ever, if you have any questions, queries or problems please get in touch. I am available at the school gate every afternoon for an informal chat but am more than happy to arrange a meeting at your request. Remember our on line Dojo system allows you to view your child's feedback via your personal log in.
