Welcome to Year 6
Our aim in Year 6 is to build on previous skills learned and prepare the children for the transition to secondary school.
We study 3 different topics in year 6 with a science and humanities focus. Last term our topic was 'Egypt'. Our topic started with a fantastic trip to the world museum in Liverpool. We researched the different theories of how the pyramids were built and attempted to build our own pyramids using what we had found out.
This term our topic is 'Flight'. Our investigable question is, 'How do birds fly?' We have had a fantastic talk from The Owl rescue and even got to hold a real owl! Our set text is Sky Hawk and our author study is Gill Lewis.
We will be taking part in lots of transition work and activities this term to prepare the children for the smooth move to High school.
